PhonesThe Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA) manages the phone system in Cyprus. Phone booths are scarce and operated by tele-cards that you can buy from most kiosks, banks and of course from CYTA offices. All numbers starting with 2 are fixed lines (22 for Lefkosia numbers, 25 for Lemesos, 24 for Larnaka, 26 for Pafos and 23 for Ayia Napa/Protaras); those beginning with 9 are mobiles; a number starting with 8000 means that it is a free-phone service, while six-digit numbers starting with 77 are the island-wide access numbers. It is interesting to note that Cyprus currently offers some of the lowest international phone rates in the world.
